After an early start (departing from your hotel at 7.30am), and the crossing of the Harbour Bridge and the Kuring-Ghai Chase National Park, our adventure really starts about two hours north of the city.
Pending on weather conditions and accessibility, we'll board a 4WD for short beach drive along the sand dunes of Stockton Beach, an incredible Eco-system stretching from Newcastle 32kms north to Anna Bay.
It's a different world out there. The Mad Max world of shipwrecks, WOII remnants and Tin City. Midway we'll have a go at some sand boarding.
Then it's time for an invigorating hike to the Head Summit of Tomaree National Park. This magnificent backdrop to the coastal towns and villages of Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Boat Harbour and Anna Bay is the only place in NSW where you can see outcrops of the acid volcanic rock rhyodacite.
From Tomaree Head Summit we' enjoy gorgeous views over Port Stephens, the coast and Broughton, Cabbage Tree and Boondelbah islands nature reserves. Keep your eyes out for koalas dozing high in the trees !
After our buffet lunch at Anna Bay, we'll board the dolphin watching vessel and watch as the dolphins play on the bow waves. During summer, some may even like to swim in the boom nets off the back of the boat and get personal with our resident bottle nose marine mammals. Highlights: 4WD, beach, sand dunes, Stockton beach, Shipwrecks, Port Stephens, dolphins, Tomaree Heads, coastal villages, koalas
(*) If the dunes are not accessible following weather or dune conditions, the Stockton Beach 4WD beach and sand boarding tour will be starting from Anna Bay. Adventures for Singles acknowledges the Worimi as the traditional owners of the Tomaree amd Yaccaba headlands.
